Skating since:
What made you get involved in roller derby? I was a rink rat during my youth and after many years of not skating I decided to pick it up again. I went to Funky's and felt a bit out of place around all the 'young' folks. Just by chance I was talking to the rink manager and she told me about the women's roller derby team. I was still skeptical that it would be a group much younger than I was, but I ultimately came to Rocktown's first game with a friend. I fell in love with Betty Crasher and the sport as a whole so I showed up at the next available practice. It's been love and obsession ever since. How did you pick your name? I was texted by the coach saying if I didn't come up with a name that i wouldn't be playing (I was procrastinating as is my nature.). I happened to be holding a shampoo bottle and somehow generated 'Vitamin V'. I later changed it to 'Problem Child' which was more suite to my track type. However, it came too late and 'V' had become the only think people called me, so now I'm AKA V. Favorite derby memory: Being in the last OT jam, down by a couple points and assisting in the win against CDD. Derby Mantra: Hit B!tche$ Likes: Tons of things, but I LOVE skating, fooseball and my husband. Dislikes: People who don't pay attention. Pre bout rituals: I try to keep my day a normal as possible and not really think about it too much so as not to freak out. Real job: I'm a quality lab supervisor at a local food/beverage manufacturer making awesome products! |
